A Trip to Zoo Negara

Another very back-dated post! I wonder when can I catch up with all those back dated posts???!!!

Ok, we finally went to the zoo… the stinky zoo… which is our NATIONAL ZOO! PiggyBeng already warned me to not bring the kids there as it is a waste of money but we just gotta make a trip there to just witness why things have not change for the past 30 years! Can you remember the KFC’s jingle… ‘Let’s go to the Zoo, there’s a lot of things to do and food is finger licking good‘? Well, there used to be a KFC back then but not anymore!

.

.

It was an unplanned trip. I was supposed to meet this pretty mommy to collect some stuff and while SMS-ing each other she invited us to join her and her kids for a zoo outing on the next day which was a public holiday in December (Awal Muharram or something) 2010. Geez… it has been too long and my memory is fading!!!!

And so, alone with the two monkeys I drove by myself to Zoo Negara early in the morning and we were the first to arrived just before 9am! We were the first few to arrived and there were ample parking so we parked quite near the entrance. Since we were early and the rest has not arrived so we cam-whore a bit…

.

.

.

They have an Insect Zoo now! Well, we did not go lar since we heard from Annie that it is not worth going as we have to pay another RM5 for the entrance fee.

At around 9.30 am, everyone including this gungho mommy and her princess came and we went ahead to purchase our entrance tickets which was surprisingly… without any Qs! Apparently, they have some Q busters to help you with your ticket purchasing so there will be no queues build up.

Can’t remember how much was the entrance ticket exactly (forgot to snap a photo of the price list) so it was around RM20 for adult and RM6 for kids 3-12. For the entry to the Insect Zoo, we have to top up another RM5 for adults and RM3 for kids… I think. RM20 was really a rip-off if I must say! The amount of animals are so much lesser than in Taiping Zoo and we only paid RM16 for that with free unlimited train rides!!! Moreover, the tram rides are not free too! We still have to pay RM4 per person regardless of adult or children! Money sucking ZOO! 😦

To be very honest, this stinky zoo is still exactly the same after 20 years!!! NO CHANGES!!!! My last trip was when I was in my last year in college which was just a stone throw away. I wonder what they did with the $$$ the got from all the sponsorships and entrance fees???!!!

When we first got in, we have to first purchase the map which cost RM2. This should be given free since we have to pay such an expensive entrance fee! So we just bought one and shared. We were told about the animals show but we were an hour early so we decided to go check out the enclosures and at the end missed all the shows. >o<

The first enclosure is the giraffes and elephants and we prompt the kids to have the line up for a photo shoot!

My Darrius is the youngest (not counting Baby G) and smallest in that group! Is he not eating well huh??? He has good appetite wor! πŸ˜›

Annie’s mom was with us too and she was so attracted to my little monkey girl as she does not have any granddaughters so she asked for some photo shots with her (before Ms Samseng started her ugly antics!).

.

.

The weather was extremely good that day so we enjoyed the walking bits. After about 30 minutes of looking at some pathetic animals, the kids were tired since they were running/walking here and there so they took a rest on the bench….

.

.

Then we moved on and finally arrived at this section…

.

.

Darrius took a photo with his ‘brothers’. πŸ˜›

.

.

This fella was real good in posing!

.

.

And this fella… could be older than me!

.

.

I guess this fella has been here for ages too! Can you see how tired looking he/she was? I wonder if he/she is being fed enough food???

.

.

And finally a shot of the flamingo….

.

.

Even the flock of flamingos are much lesser than those we saw in Taiping Zoo!

I did not take that many photos since I have to take care of Baby G and carrying a big bag and an umbrella (afraid that it might rain). It was really tiring to go with 2 kids alone though I have other mommies to help look see but still it is not easy when we are required to walk so much. In some parts I have to carry Baby G as she was tired sitting on the stroller.

Will I ever go again??? NO WAY! I rather spend that amount of money to visit Taiping Zoo! It is still as stinky as ever and the toilet inside the zoo… I dare not even dare to take a peek! Those outside are slightly better coz there are still new.

After we exit from the Zoo, we went to have our lunch which will be in the next post! πŸ˜€
